In times when we are struggling we may be quick to look to friends or family members to hear us vent and share our pain. Often times they are not able to understand or convey empathy toward what we are struggling with. In those times, it is important to lean on God. He is always available to listen to our concerns and heals our hurts.
Who are you looking to today?
“I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all of my fears. Those who look to him will radiate with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened”. Psalm 34:4-6(NLT)
Living life as a believer is filled with ups and downs because we aren’t in heaven yet. I know, shocker right? The Psalms do a great job of showing how we can praise and give thanks through a variety of circumstances. I find that when I am going through it the most, those are the times I am closest to God.
How do you bring the sacrifice of praise?
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing”. James 1:2-4(NLT)
Sometimes you just need to breathe deeply and take it easy. There are so many things to distract ourselves with and our brains are working on overload. Take time to pause and reflect on your life, your joy, your spirit.
“Be still and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world”. Psalm 46:10 NLT
Do you see yourself as others see you or as God sees you?
When you place the opinion of others before God’s opinion, you can find yourself in a strange place. When you think about God’s true opinion of you and you start to believe it, the opinion of others will start to lessen. Only then can you have a better sense of self.
This goes for me as well. When I see myself as God sees me, all is well and I don’t feel so anxious/insecure.
I hope you have a great day!
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him”. Hebrews 11:6 NLT
Through good and bad days we have to remember that God is the giver of all good things. He wants the best for us no matter what. Some days we just have to rest in God’s goodness and have faith that He is working things out for our good.
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge”. Psalm 62:5-8 NLT
Today’s devotional reading invites us to trust in God instead of trusting in ourselves. When we lean on God’s strength and wisdom, we end up better off than when we try to think “I’ve got this” and spin our wheels until we have no choice but to rely on God. Whatever you are facing today know that God is already seeing you through.
Psalm 37:3-6 “Take delight in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun”. (NLT)
Today my daily devotional spoke about complaining. So I hope to be mindful of my complaining today. Instead of complaining to another person, we can take our concerns to God. That is a great joy that we as believers have.
I hope you have a great complaint free day 🙂
“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing”. Jeremiah 31:25 NLT
