“Whatever He says to you, do it”~John 2:5

When we seek to do God’s will for our lives and follow His path in obedience, then we are able to experience a new level of faith. God wants to do great things in our lives, if we only take a moment to ask Him what He has for us this day. In recovery, the third step prayer says “Thy will be done”. Seeking God’s will for our lives and actively pursuing it, also gives us the opportunity to focus on others and the world around us instead of the jumble of feelings, emotions, and confusion that may be swirling in our heads.

I was looking into different mediation apps and one of the sites had a link to a Ted talk. The Ted talk spoke about taking ten minutes out of our day to meditate. We are so much better off when we can take a moment to just breathe. So I wonder why it isn’t our natural inclination.

Taking time to do things that will benefit ourselves and others sounds like a great addition to anyone’s life. So why do we find it so hard to do. Just this morning, I woke up and I said “I should go to the gym”. So I had a few thoughts about the gym, I even looked at the schedule. Then I had a thought “I need to go to a meeting”. So I thought about which meeting I would go to. Then I thought about workouts to do at home. Because another thought that swam through those thoughts was my schedule. So where am I, still in the same spot.

I don’t have those same kind of thoughts about serving God. I think I take serving God for granted and in reality it is not a passive act, it is an active act. I have only started to have the thought that I need to do my devotion as more of an active act. I also want to move my thought to meditation to an active act as well. So today I will shoot for at least ten minutes.

What steps are you taking today?

Learning To Wait

Standard

“Therefore return to your God! Hold fast to love and mercy, to righteousness and justice, and wait [expectantly] for your God continually!”~Hosea 2:6

I really need this for every day of life. Sometimes we can be so impatient, that we forget that waiting is helpful. Sometimes we do not understand the reason behind the wait and we contort into balls of stress. Waiting is a time of peace and rest. We can rest knowing that God is taking care of all that concerns us. God wants good things for us. So as we wait it is important to stay focused on what is in front of us right now. When we take care of the things that we can, our wait will go smoother.

Waiting in my words is a huge, powerful lesson that not only transforms me, but it helps the person I am communicating with in that moment. I’m just beginning to grasp this concept, so you will have to work with me. I think I am just starting to fully realize that my mind holds so much, and so much comes to the forefront of my thoughts but I can actually just sit with them. I don’t have to share them all at once.

Today at my first trip to the grocery store, the cashier said “Do you have plans for tomorrow?” I replied “Huh?” She said “The big day?” I said “Oh, no I’m not doing anything tomorrow. That is one of the downsides of being single”. As I walked out of the store, I realized that I do have plans for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a day of love for myself. So, I have a great day to look forward to.

I had some interesting discussions yesterday about the mind body connection. I decided that since what we take into our body and spirit is so strong, I need to listen to more positive things. So I have been deleting some junk out of my ipod. A friend told me about some great African music and I shared some great island music. I realized one of the reasons why I loved the music so much is because it was so peaceful and positive. It instantly put me in  a good mood.

It is a truly beautiful day today. I had a great run, I did some yoga outside, and even did some swings on a tree. I love being in nature. It truly invigorates me.

I hope you have a great day and thank you for taking the time to check out my little space in the internet 🙂

Daily Favor Confession

Standard

This was a gift from a friend today :

In the name of Jesus, I decree from this moment forward, I see myself the way God sees me. I am highly favored of the Lord. I am crowned with glory and honor. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I am reigning as a Queen in life through Jesus Christ the Messiah.

In Jesus’ name, I declare by faith that I walk in divine favor. I have preferential treatment, supernatural increase, restoration, prominence, petitions granted, laws changed, policies and rules changed and battles won, which I do not have to fight, all because of the blessing and favor of God on my life.

In Jesus name, every morning when I arise, I will speak and expect divine favor to go before me and surround me as with a shield of goodwill and pleasures forevermore. Doors are now open for me that men have said are impossible to open. No obstacle can stop me, and no hindrances can delay me.

In Jesus’ name, I am honored by my Father, as I receive genuine favor that comes directly from God. I am special to Him. I am the object of His affection. I am the apple of His eye. I am blessed and highly favored of the Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Amen

Let Your Mess Become Your Message

Standard

“All of us…are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

We all make mistakes in life(some more than others). I am starting to view my mistakes as lessons to grow from. I find that when we are real with others(scars and all), people have the opportunity to be real with themselves and the growth cycle continues. When I focus on how God is trying to work in my life(when I let Him take control), I am at a loss for words. God’s work in our lives is so powerful and transforming. It literally happens from the inside out.

We are all facing battles(big and small) but God is bigger than them all. That is a comfort. It also makes me feel less alone(I can go inward pretty quickly). I always thought that everyone wanted to hear my mess and solve my problems. Until I learned that not everyone has the right to hear your story and no one but God can solve your problems.

Life is definitely a journey and today I am riding a nice wave(I still need to learn how to surf). So here’s to living life and enjoying all the parts that make it magical.

Finding Joy

Standard

Some days are harder than others to find joy. When the sun is shining and you feel like everything is going your way, its easy. When the sky is grey and you feel like you can’t do anything right, its hard. If you are having a bad day, pray and ask God to reveal His joy to you.

Keep it simple: did you wake up this morning? Do you have food to eat? Do you have clothes to wear? If the answer is yes, I would say you have a lot to be joyful about. Just taking a moment out of your day to be thankful and show gratitude can go a long way. It also helps to believe that there is joy to be found. When I take my focus off of myself and see where I can help someone else, I find joy.

Where do you find joy?

“Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.” Psalm 21:6 NIV
