Staying In Prayer

Some say the first thing you should do when you wake up is pray. If you are a believer, you will feel energized and encouraged after prayer. If you are not, prayer can open up a new communication for you. There are tons of reasons to pray and a ton of excuses not to. But the Bible says that the Holy Spirit works through our moaning and groaning. So technically, even if all you can do is sigh or wince in pain or discouragement, God hears you.

Prayer is just like meditation(except I would say you talk to God is prayer, while you listen to God in meditation). To do both you have to get still. Even if its just for five minutes, it can be the best five minutes you have ever taken out of your day. I love how the Jewish faith has a variety of different prayers(Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu always sings in my head). I love how the Muslim faith requires prayer throughout the day. I often wonder why we as Christians don’t have a ritual of prayer but the Bible says to pray without ceasing. So technically, as soon as you have a thought, you can pray.

I plan on staying in prayer a little longer each day(it helps keep me calm and puts life into a better view). Sometimes I just find myself saying “God, forgive me for being so snarky” or “God I need you right now”. Because when I let me get in the way of what God is teaching me, I get so off track, The good thing is God has grace and mercy for even the snarkiest of Christians.

Hope you have a day filled with prayer 🙂

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
